How Your Moral Self Affects Health and Humanity (English Edition)

The world as we experience it shows more signs and evidence of moral disease than moral health. This bespeaks more about the moral self of personhood than any other phenomenon in human life.
The moral self of personhood is the least of people’s concerns in today’s world. We mostly focus on the physical and social appearances of personhood. Every day, we exert efforts to maintain a public persona that is more about face-saving than the authenticity of personhood.
It is conspicuous that people in daily life appear oblivious to who they really are. Many embrace the pseudo-self as the real self. More people reveal the deviant and malignant moral self of personhood. The evidence for this is every day, often to one’s dismay, when family, friends, and acquaintances are found to participate in nefarious activities. Even more, it is evident in the heinous crimes, vicious corruption, heartless exploitation of the poor and powerless, violence towards the vulnerable, and brutally inhumane treatment of fellow humans.
Anthropologically and psychologically, the moral self is the essence of one’s personhood. Health experts emphasize that it is closely tied to the level of moral health people experience. Moral health not only affects the destiny of the individual but also the destiny of humanity. In our times, we individually and collectively endure moral suffering.
The individual’s ability to build moral health demands the objectivity and rationality of a more evolved moral self. It only develops if a person engages in the lifelong process of self-evolution. In our world, the human person poorly manifests the mature moral self and is strung on the rigid moral self. The latter is a design of conventional morality, and the former evolves through moral consciousness.
The rigid moral self fails to recognize the more relevant moral sense, emotions, and behaviors in the moral domain, hindering individuals, society, and humanity from developing moral health. If we are to evolve into better humans, then we will need to rid ourselves of moral conflicts and dilemmas. The anomalous human exhibits a personhood that does not grow in moral self. Developing a mature moral self is primarily influenced by moral consciousness, rather than our moral systems.
This book examines the moral self of personhood in our contemporary world. It hopes to enlighten the reader on the seriousness of attending to the moral self of one’s personhood and cultivating moral health, both for personal health and well-being, and the welfare and health of society and humanity. The book aims to help readers reckon with the impact of postmodernism on the moral self of personhood and how, in our times, we are exhibiting the unique human moral nature. It argues that the only way to be human in today’s world is by evolving the moral self of personhood.
