In 1658, the Czech poet and priest Fridrich Bridelius SJ. published a hymnbook entitled „Jeslicky stare nove pisnicky“ (in English: Manger, old and new songs). These are Advent and Christmas spiritual songs from the Baroque period.

As the name suggests, it is a mixture of old songs that Fridrich Bridelius collected and edited here.

Also new ones that probably Bridelius himself composed here. Because we find them for the first time in this songbook.

The six new songs are: Co tu stojite, Vesel se nebe, O dobre noviny, Pisen pastyrska, Radujte se krestane and Druhy Slavicek.

A beautiful revival of Christmas with these beautiful songs.
