Descrição do livro

"Wait — didn't I just tell you this?"

Every morning, the AI on your phone wakes up with no memory of yesterday. Your family's names, your work, the thing that kept you up last night — gone. You start from zero, every single time.

It's a small thing. But it's a lonely one. This book is the fix.

Intelligence in the cloud. Memory and privacy in your hands.

Keep the brilliant cloud AI you already use — ChatGPT, Claude. But this time, your memory, your documents, and your judgment stay on your own Mac. Not in someone else's data center.

Personal computers gave each of us a machine. Personal AI gives each of us something more — an AI of our own.

What You'll Build
A personal AI environment that remembers you — next week, next month, three months from now. Your family's schedule, past decisions, the long thread of an ongoing project — all carried forward, ready when you are. A partner that picks up exactly where you left off.

The Four Pillars of Permanence
• The Constitution (System Prompt) — how it talks and what it values
• The Bookshelf (RAG) — your documents, searchable
• The Long-Term Memory (Memory MCP) — what it knows about you, forever
• The Standing Orders (Pinned Documents) — the rules it never forgets

Combine all four, and you have something cloud AIs simply cannot give you: an AI that knows you.

Built in a Weekend — Phase 0 to Phase 9
Phase 0: Why, what, and how
Phase 1: AnythingLLM on Docker
Phase 2: Personality, intelligence, knowledge
Phase 3: Time awareness (time MCP)
Phase 4: Memory (memory MCP) — the heart of the book
Phase 5: Files (filesystem MCP)
Phase 6: The web (fetch + brave-search)
Phase 7: Database (sqlite MCP)
Phase 8: Google Calendar and Gmail
Phase 9: From a $5 experiment to a $40-a-month daily driver — built to last

Plus four appendices: backup, Docker details, full configurations, and secure remote access via Tailscale.

Who This Book Is For
• You use ChatGPT or Claude every day, but you're tired of re-explaining yourself
• You use Claude Code or ChatGPT Projects, and want to understand the architecture beneath them
• You want your memory, documents, and calendar on your own machine — not in a corporate cloud
• You've stepped away from your career for caregiving or family, and you're finding your way back
• You have a Mac you'd like to put to real work — Apple Silicon or Intel, verified end-to-end on a 2020 Intel iMac (16 GB of RAM is enough to follow along; 32 GB recommended for local embeddings)

About the Author
Noboru Ikuta began in telecommunications and database engineering, then founded Infotect Inc. in 2004. His cloud-based social platform "Memory Box" launched in 2005, and his green-IT research was selected for Japan's IPA Mitou Program — a competitive national R&D grant — in 2008. From 2019 to 2026, he stepped away entirely: nearly seven years as a single father raising three sons abroad. Back in Japan, he built his own personal AI environment, "AI NOBORu," in about two weeks — between school pickups and household life — then distilled those two weeks into the weekend-sized path in this book. He wrote it to show what's now possible for a stay-at-home parent with the Mac already on the desk.

You don't need a new computer.
The Mac on your desk right now is enough.
Spend a weekend building, and the AI that remembers you — for good — begins.
