Autumn Root is the breaking and making of Autumn Lashai. Born Glenneasha Lashai Brown, she was born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi--a city more known for its crime, education system, and potholes than its birth of music. In her book debut, she details her story of survival through sexual abuse, abusive relationships, religious hypocrisy, mental illness, suicide ideation, and generational trauma. She grits her teeth through poetry, demonstrating the resilience it takes to survive. Through sensual exploration, mediation, and exercise, she finds her own path to forgiveness. Through her story, she hopes to destigmatize sexual violence and abuse through poetry.
