Season 5 brings Prime Video's outrageously subversive superhero saga to an explosive conclusion. In it, we gear up for a major encounter between William ‘Billy’ Butcher (Karl Urban) and his increasingly fractured team against Homelander (Antony Starr) and the all- powerful Vought International. Just as in previous seasons, The Boys delivers its trademark blend of dark satire, brutal action and jaw-dropping—and literally, sometimes, jaw-dropping— spectacle, with visual effects playing an essential role in bringing the series' outrageous world to life. Overseeing the VFX effort was visual effects supervisor Stephan Fleet, who worked closely with creator and showrunner Eric Kripke.
Fleet and visual effects producer Mike May rallied a large number of visual effects vendors—including DNEG, El Ranchito, EYELINE, Ghost, Incessant Rain, MR. X, Pixomondo, Soho, Spin VFX, Splice and Untold Studios—to create a blend of subversive imagery. CNCPT led the previs effort. Hudson Kenny served as special effects supervisor, with Zane Knisely as prosthetics supervisor.
