Descrição do livro

The desert was endless.
Kael had walked for three days since the last sign of water, and the horizon still shimmered with heat, a cruel mirage that promised rivers and trees where there were only dunes and bones. He pulled the scarf tighter across his mouth, not only to keep the sand out but also to silence the rasp of his own breath, which had grown ragged and shallow. Each step was a decision: lift, place, endure. The weight of survival pressed against his spine like an unseen rider.
What struck him most about this desert was not its emptiness, but its litter. All across the sands, bones lay exposed—bleached by the sun, half-buried by storms, scattered like the remains of a colossal battle no one remembered. Some were human, most were not. Enormous rib cages arched out of the dunes like the hulls of wrecked ships. Spines curled upward, jagged and broken, casting crooked shadows that resembled the spires of some ruined city.
At first, Kael had ignored them. He was not a man to linger over symbols; bones were bones, the inevitable end of all creatures. But on the second night, when the cold gnawed at him worse than hunger, he began to hear them.
It started as a trick of the wind—moans and sighs threading through the hollows of rib cages, voices shaped from air and absence. Then, as he lay wrapped in his thin blanket beneath the stars, he realized the whispers had formed words.
“Come.”
“Horizon.”
“Back.”
He had sat up quickly, eyes wide, but no one was there. Only the dunes shifting in the moonlight and the bones gleaming like teeth. His skin crawled. The desert was vast and lifeless, yet he felt watched, as though something ancient slumbered just beneath the sand, breathing through those hollow remains.
The Wanderer’s Resolve
Kael was no stranger to strange lands. His whole life had been a road stretching from one ruin to another. Orphaned in the border wars, raised by scavengers, he had learned early to trust the path his feet chose and little else. He had no home, no flag, no god—only the stubborn spark of survival and the ache of questions he could never silence.
