Every developer has inherited a project where touching anything breaks something
else. The causes repeat: technical debt no one chose to take on, code organized
around the framework of the moment, architecture copied from a famous repository
without the context that justified it. At the root, a single disease, complexity
that does not pay the rent it charges.
FOCUS starts from a simple thesis: architecture exists to reduce complexity and
decisions, and any other justification is secondary. The name is the method:
Feature-Oriented, Clean, Unidirectional, Scalable. It is not a framework or
boilerplate, and it does not reject the architectures that came before, it is an
opinionated curation of them that, when torn between showing options and giving
direction, gives direction.
Every concept comes from a concrete problem and proves itself in a real system, a
full-stack e-commerce built across the book, with catalog, cart, orders,
inventory, and payment. The essential code is printed and its surroundings live in
a companion repository, with the same design applied across thirteen front-end and
back-end ecosystems, from Flutter and React to ASP.NET, Spring, and FastAPI. Code
that changes together lives together, and the folder tree tells you what the
system does.
