This book on “Global Transmission Networks - POWERING THE WORLD “is a symbol of Sterlite’s support and unending encouragement with regards to my career.
This book is a story, made up of small anecdotes from my memory. In no way does it signify the myriad of experiences I have had otherwise, nor the plethora of people I have met along the way. My journey has been a colorful experience- no one would expect 45 years in the same industry to be as vibrant or educational as mine has been.
I gave a start with talking about my early life in home town-Nagpur, completing my basic engineering degree and jumping into a job dealing with transmission line towers without knowing anything about it. Slowly the journey started learning day by day with my first job. Soon six years passed quickly, in the meantime completed my higher studies for master degree and doctoral degree.
It was a time to look for a bigger dream and I had to leave my hometown to explore Global Transmission lines. I moved to New Delhi, Mumbai and USA, acquired experience and knowledge from the global transmission projects, I was associated with. Stories are covered from 40 countries, divided in continents.
I urge everyone who reads this book to keep in mind this one single deciding factor that has helped me enrich my knowledge- that is, to never say no to anything. Even if you don’t know how to carry out a new project, a new entry, or how to read new data, say yes to it. Become a fellow to someone who does, and learn.
That’s all I would say. I would still urge you to browse through the books- the pictures are quite a view for someone who loves to travel.
