I was approaching 28, had a good career and was working my socks off. Yet, despite this, my wealth was no greater than it had been three years earlier. That was simply not good enough. I vowed to myself that, thereafter, I would save and invest every single year. That journey unexpectedly resulted in early retirement only 10 years later.
Retired at 38 begins by telling my story, but the majority of the book will then act as a guide that will provide the reader with the knowledge and tools they need to embark upon their own personal journey to financial independence.
Simon Alcock has been investing in residential property and stocks and shares since the 90s. As a very experienced landlord, his opinion of the rental market has appeared in the national press. Following an IT career of about 20 years, he retired soon after becoming financially independent at the age of 38. He has recently entered the second decade of his retirement having not worked a single day since his 30s.
