The companies that received this investment—Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, Anthropic, Nvidia, and others—began building the infrastructure, products, and talent pipeline required to commercialize what science had created.
The returns on AI technology investment are only possible at a total global scale. Without universal deployment across every corner of the world, the entire investment does not just fail to profit—it collapses into total bankruptcy.
AI technology is not like a product you sell to a segment of the market. It is infrastructure-dependent and scale-dependent. The data centers, the computing power, the research costs, the talent acquisition—all of it only generates a return when every sector is dependent on it, every individual is a consumer of it, and every institution is locked into it. Partial deployment produces no return. Only total global deployment produces the scale required to justify what was invested.
