A modern vision of government founded upon freedom, duty, honour, and service.
What if government were built around a simple principle: those who hold power must remember that they serve the people who entrusted it to them?
The Republic of Chivalry is a comprehensive civic and governmental model that combines democratic institutions with the ethical ideals of modern chivalry.
This is not a return to feudalism or medieval government. Instead, it reimagines chivalry as a modern code of character-one based upon courage, justice, compassion, integrity, service, equality, responsibility, and respect for human dignity.
The book presents a complete vision of a democratic Republic, covering:
The Republic is firmly secular. Citizens are free to practise a religion, follow a spiritual tradition, or follow no religion at all. Government does not establish or impose a faith. The Flame used throughout the Republic is a symbol of conscience, wisdom, freedom, and responsibility.
At the centre of the system is the belief that rights and duties belong together. Freedom gives people the ability to choose their lives; duty reminds them that their choices affect others. Government exists to protect liberty, uphold justice, and serve the public-not to become the master of the people.
The Republic's guiding motto says it best:
"In Freedom, Duty; In Duty, Honour; In Honour, Peace."
The Republic of Chivalry is ultimately a question as much as it is a governmental model:
What kind of Republic could we build if honour were measured not by status or power, but by how faithfully we serve one another?
