This book holds pieces of my truth the parts I used to hide, the parts I didn't fully understand, and the parts I am still learning to embrace. It speaks about family, trauma, motherhood, faith, identity, love, survival, and the complicated process of breaking cycles that existed long before I ever knew they were there.
But more than anything, this book is about becoming.
Becoming the woman, I needed when I was younger. Becoming the mother my children deserve. Becoming someone who no longer has to live entirely from her wounds because she has learned how to live from a place of healing. Becoming someone who can look at her past without allowing it to dictate her future.
I used to think healing meant forgetting. Now I understand that healing can mean remembering without being destroyed by what you remember. It can mean looking at the little girl you once were and finally giving her the compassion, she deserved. It can mean acknowledging that she did the best she could with what she knew. It can mean telling her that she didn't deserve everything that happened to her, and that she doesn't have to spend the rest of her life proving that she was worthy of love.
If you're reading this, I want you to know something: you are not the only one figuring it out as you go. You are not the only one unlearning what you were taught. You are not the only one trying to become better while still carrying the weight of what you've been through.
Give yourself grace.
Give yourself time.
You don't have to have everything figured out today. You don't have to become an entirely different person overnight. Sometimes growth is simply recognizing something you didn't recognize yesterday. Sometimes healing is choosing a different response. Sometimes strength is admitting that something hurt you. Sometimes faith is continuing to walk even when you don't understand where the road is leading.
I am still learning.
I am still growing.
I am still becoming.
And I have finally learned that healing isn't a destination. It is a daily choice a choice to face myself honestly, to give myself grace, to trust God with what I cannot control, and to keep choosing something different.
So this book is not a story about a woman who figured everything out.
It is the story of a woman who finally became willing to figure herself out.
This is my truth.
This is my healing.
This is my becoming.
And this…
is mine.
