Robert Fludd left us a genuine physical treatise (astrophysical and cosmological) under the umbrella of Hermeticism. What the reader now holds is a true gem.

Is it possible to read this text from a scientific standpoint? Not without pertinent and solid indications that, for example, through a different nomenclature, make its hermetic conception legible to those passionate about science, metaphysics, and music. Nonetheless, in my view, the greatest value of the text lies in its impressive hermetic erudition, which makes it one of the most lucid works ever written.

This edition includes:
– The complete translation of the first three books of the first treatise of the Utriusque Cosmi Maioris scilicet et Minoris Metaphysica, Physica atque Technica Historia, the Metaphysical, Physical, and Technical History of Both the Greater and Lesser Cosmos (approximately 70%).
– Specialized notes and commentary (approximately 30%) by Jasper C. Hernández, M.Sc., illuminating its meaning across physical, astrophysical, musical, and metaphysical dimensions.

The musician will certainly find in this work a balm for their isolation from the rest of the world of knowledge. Guided by a musical cosmogony and cosmology, the musician can truly become, that is, move beyond being a theorist or automaton, and recognize their intuition — that of Music — as a fundamental force for shaping and disassembling the universal.

This is an analysis whose patronage rests always with the Divine, which Fludd ultimately gives concrete form in the Sun, one of its “faces” — perhaps one of a thousand faces of heroic rigor… who can say.

Finally, students of esotericism will be able, through this book and its clarifications — deeply scientific and Neoplatonic as needed — to guide their hierarchical studies that return, time and again, to the spheres and the Sephirot.

Although it may seem like a work open to countless, unrelated facets, this is not the case. The Late Renaissance knowledge that we rediscover through this text demonstrates that these connections — this common link — indeed exist.

My intention and proposal are that, for brilliant minds, this will no longer seem irreconcilable. As I say, this is a true feast, an Apple of the Hesperides kept by a slumbering dragon.

This edition of Robert Fludd’s Metaphysical, Physical, and Technical History of Both the Greater and Lesser Cosmos is translated and extensively annotated by Jasper C. Hernández, M.Sc., and published under the Chronocrators imprint. Jasper C. Hernández is a Senior Telecommunications Engineer and a Master of Arts from a conservatory.
