Most people wish to have physical integrity. They dread the thought of losing an arm or a leg through illness or accident.
German surgeon Dr. Arno Goerling meets a patient who, after his operation, is happy that his leg had to be amputated due to sepsis. The doctor no longer understands the world. His friend and psychiatrist Robert enlightens him what this disorder, called BIID, is all about.
BIID sufferers feel that a healthy body part is too much and does not belong to their body. They want it amputated.
Dr. Arno Goerling wants to help those affected and performs elective amputations on them.
One day, one of his patients blacks him out to the medical board. The surgeon is accused. The case goes to trial. The court has to decide whether the doctor should be convicted of grievous bodily harm and an offense against public morals.
Will he be convicted?
